About Murrumbidgee Magic

Murrumbidgee Magic is an award winning, dynamic female singing group whose members meet regularly to practise, perform, socialise and have fun. We currently have about 25 singers of all ages, all walks of life and from all parts of the Wagga Wagga area and beyond. Our repertoire spans a wide and varied range, from One Fine Day and At Last to more contemporary hits like It's Raining Men and You Raise Me Up, as well as songs with a distinctly Australian flavour, including I Still Call Australia Home and I am Australian. All songs are arranged in the distinctive barbershop 4-part harmony style.

Performance

The chorus enjoys a reputation for providing entertaining, high quality performance in the local community including singing at naturalisation ceremonies, weddings, and a variety of concerts. We also take part iin the national competition where we have won gold in the Small Chorus division.  We are available to sing at your next function or event. Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Very few of our singers have any formal training in music or singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. Throughout the year we get coaching from visiting masters in the art of barbershop, where we learn singing and performance skills.

CompetitionEach year Region 34 holds a competition open to all Sweet Adeline choruses and quartets in Australia. Competitions are scheduled to take place in Newcastle, Canberra, and Western Australia. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses to come together to sing for each other and receive constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories travel to International Competition. In 2011, International Competition will be held in Houston, Texas, USA. Quartets

Most choruses have members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Murrumbidgee Magic has produced several quartets over the years and currently is proud of our director who is a member of the medal winning quartet Andiamo.  Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.
